Romare Bearden
Bearden is an American collage artist. He was born in North Carolina in 1911 and spent much of his life in New York, Pittsburgh and later on, St. Martin. We were influenced by his collage cityscapes and worked together in groups to create our projects.
Pablo Picasso
Picasso is a Spanish artist who was born in 1881. He was one of the most influential artists of all times. Students are studying his portraits where he uses multiple points of view in one image. They are creating portraits of their own where the face and body is seen from both the frontal (front) and the profile (side) view.
Piet Mondrian
4th and 5th graders are learning how art and math are related. Piet Mondrian is an artist who uses intersecting, perpendicular and parallel lines along with squares and rectangles in his works. We have been influenced by this dutch artist and are learning from him to create our newest collages.
Non-Objective art is a type of Abstract (simplified) art. It has no subjects or objects. Students are learning about Geometric and Organic shapes. They are using these shapes to create a non-objective work of art.
